Vrbo Partner: Payment Options

Choose how guest payments are processed for each Vrbo property connected through the Vrbo Partner Connection.

Written by Dawn Ginie Santoyo

If your property is connected through the Vrbo Partner Connection, you can manage payment processing settings directly from the property's settings page.

This allows you to choose how guest payments are processed for each Vrbo property individually. Different properties can use different payment setups depending on your business needs.

At a Glance

  • Payment options are configured at the property level

  • Different Vrbo properties can use different payment setups

  • Available options depend on your plan and payment processor configuration

  • Changes only affect future bookings

  • Existing reservations are not affected

This feature is only available for properties connected through the Vrbo Partner Connection.

Access Vrbo Payment Options

To manage payment options for a property:

  1. Open Properties.

  2. Select the property you want to update.

  3. Open Property Details.

  4. Locate the Vrbo Payment Options section.

From this section, you can review and update how guest payments are processed for that property.

Available Payment Options

The payment options available for a property depend on your account configuration.

Common options include:

Hospitable as Merchant of Record

When Hospitable acts as the Merchant of Record:

  • Guest payments are processed through Hospitable

  • Hospitable manages payment collection

  • Tax collection and remittance support is available where applicable

Your Stripe Account

If you have a connected and eligible Stripe account, guest payments can be processed through Stripe instead.

In this setup:

  • Guest payments are processed through your Stripe account

  • Stripe fees apply according to your Stripe configuration

  • You remain responsible for applicable Stripe account requirements

Using Different Payment Options Across Properties

Payment settings are configured independently for each property.

For example, you may choose:

  • Hospitable as Merchant of Record for one property

  • Stripe for another property

This flexibility allows you to manage payment processing differently across your portfolio.

Updating a property's payment option does not change payment settings for other properties.

What Happens When You Change a Payment Option?

When you update a property's payment option:

  • Future reservations use the new configuration

  • Existing reservations keep their original payment setup

  • Changes apply only to the property being edited

Review your payment and tax settings after making changes to ensure they match your preferred setup.

Changing payment processors may require updates to your tax configuration.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Payment options are only available for properties connected through the Vrbo Partner Connection

  • Stripe must be connected and eligible before it can be selected

  • Restricted Stripe accounts cannot process new Vrbo reservations

  • Available payment options may vary based on your subscription plan
