Our thermostat integrations at Hospitable make it easy to manage property temperatures automatically, saving energy and ensuring guest comfort with minimal effort. Below, you’ll find information on how the integration works, available settings, and how to get started.

What Does the Thermostat Integration Do?

The thermostat integration allows you to automate temperature settings across your properties, seamlessly adjusting to different modes based on bookings and vacancy. This integration currently offers three preset modes; Occupied, Unoccupied, and Long-term Unoccupied, that help you maintain optimal temperatures based on guest stays, short vacancies, and extended vacancies.

How Does It Work?

When a guest checks in or checks out, the thermostat integration will automatically switch between modes according to the booking status, reducing your manual adjustments and saving energy.

  1. Occupied Mode: This mode is activated 2 hours before guest check-in, warming or cooling the property to a comfortable preset temperature range. It stays active for the duration of the guest’s stay, ensuring comfort throughout their visit.

  2. Unoccupied Mode: At check-out, the thermostat automatically switches to an energy-saving setting. This mode maintains moderate temperatures to reduce costs while keeping the property ready for quick reactivation if another booking is close.

  3. Long-term Unoccupied Mode: If the property remains vacant for an extended period (two weeks or more), the thermostat will switch to a deeper energy-saving mode. To prepare for the next guest, Long-term Unoccupied Mode will switch to Unoccupied Mode two days before a reservation and then transition to Occupied Mode two hours before check-in. This gradual change brings the property to the ideal temperature efficiently and avoids a sudden energy surge.

Key Features and Settings

  • Guest Control Option
Hosts can allow or restrict guest control of the thermostat during their stay by toggling a setting. When enabled, guests can adjust the thermostat as needed; when disabled, the thermostat remains locked at the preset temperature for the duration of the reservation.

  • Automatic Override for Cleaners and Maintenance
If the thermostat is in Unoccupied or Long-term Unoccupied Mode and someone manually adjusts it at the thermostat, we’ll assume it’s a cleaner or maintenance team and allow a 2-hour override before it reverts to the preset energy-saving settings. This ensures energy savings continue without disrupting essential property visits.

  • Offline and Temperature Range Notifications
You can set notifications if the thermostat goes offline or if the temperature falls outside a specified range. These notifications help you proactively manage temperature and HVAC settings to maintain property conditions.

  • Direct Control from Device Dashboard
You can view and change temperature settings, HVAC modes, and fan settings directly from the device dashboard, providing easy access and control over each thermostat.

  • Real-Time Updates in Inbox
In the Inbox, you’ll see the current preset setting, the timing of the next preset and the property temperature. We’ve implemented a traffic light system to quickly indicate if something requires attention: Green: Everything is operating as expected. Amber: The temperature may be slightly off the target range. Red: The thermostat is offline.

How to Get Started with Thermostat Integrations

  1. Connect Your Thermostat: Go to Devices > Connect Devices > Connect Device and select your thermostat brand to begin the integration process. Follow the prompts to connect and authorize the thermostat for use with Hospitable.

  2. Customize Your Presets: Once connected, you’ll be able to set specific temperature ranges for each mode under Devices > Settings > Thermostats > Custom Presets. You can adjust these at any time to reflect seasonal changes.

  3. Test the Integration: Try adjusting the mode manually from within Hospitable to see the thermostat respond. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with how the integration will work with different booking statuses.
