Creating an Owners stay

Owner stays are currently available to users on Hospitable's Mogul plan.

Hospitable makes it easy to create and manage owner stays directly from your calendar. Here's how to set one up, along with the options available to tailor the owner stay to your needs.

Create an Owner Stay from Hospitable

+ Add Booking

You can begin from either your single calendar or multi-calendar view:

  1. Click + Add Booking, or select the desired dates first and click Add Booking.

  2. Choose Owners stay, then click Continue.

Set the Stay details

Owner stays come with flexible settings to accommodate the unique needs of owners.

  • What time? Choose the check-in and checkout time for your owners, and optionally block the night before check-in or night after checkout to prevent same-day turnovers for Owner stays

  • Who's staying? Enter the number of guests and confirm the Owner's contact information.

  • Does the owner need a smart lock code? If not, we'll disable code communications for this owners stay.

  • Should we schedule a cleaning after their stay?

    • If not, we'll cancel any cleaning task rules after checkout.

    • If so, you can set a cleaning fee and choose whether to handle that payment offline or deduct it from the next statement or invoice.

  • Modify and send a simple confirmation email to the owner.

  • Review and confirm the details.

Calendar View

Once created, owner stays appear in on your calendar in purple, to visually distinguish them from guest stays.

Your Owners have the ability to book a stay from the Owner's Portal, unless you disable it.

To review your Owner Portal configurations:

  • Operations > My Business > Select your Manager-type business

  • Go to the Owner Portal tab

  • Under Portal Permissions, you'll see permissions related to Owner Stays

    • Allow owners to book stays from the portal.
      If checked, the Owner will see an Add stay button on the Calendar page of their Owner's Portal, where they can book their own stays.

    • Always schedule a cleaning after owner stays.
      If checked, any cleaning Task Rules will be created as configured. If unchecked, cleaning Task Rules will not be created.

    • Always send the owner a smart lock code.
      If checked, the owner will always receive a smart lock code. If not selected, the owner can choose whether or not they want a smart lock code.

FAQ

If my owner adds an owner stay from the owner's portal, will I be billed for the property?

Yes. Any time you have a check-in at a Hospitable property, the property is considered active in terms of billing. It does not matter whether you add the owner stay from the calendar, or the owner adds the stay from the portal.

When an owner stay is added, you will be charged the add-on fee for the property because our services—such as calendar syncing, guest messaging, and so forth—are still running.
