Hospitable’s iCal feeds are used to share reservation and task data between Hospitable and external calendars.

There are two types of iCal feeds:

How often an iCal feed updates depends on both Hospitable and the service receiving the feed.

This article explains update timing and what you can do if you’re experiencing delays.

How often Hospitable's iCal feeds update

Hospitable refreshes outgoing iCal feeds on a rolling basis, approximately every 40 minutes.

However, external calendar services may refresh less frequently. This can cause delays that are outside of Hospitable’s control. If you’re using an iCal feed, some lag is expected.

Adding an iCal feed

If you haven’t added an iCal feed yet, you can follow the instructions here: Add an iCal feed to the calendar on my device

Apple Calendar

Apple Calendar allows you to control how often it checks for updates.

To change the fetch frequency on an iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Settings app

  2. Go to Apps, then Calendar

  3. Tap Calendar Accounts

  4. Tap Fetch New Data

  5. At the bottom of the screen, choose your preferred Fetch frequency

  6. Find your iCal feed in the list of calendars and ensure it’s set to Fetch

Your changes are saved automatically.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar does not allow you to change iCal refresh timing automatically.

  • iCal feeds refresh on Google’s schedule, which can take several hours

  • You can manually refresh the calendar in the Google Calendar app or web interface

For detailed instructions, refer to Google’s help article for Android and iOS.

Other calendar providers

If you’re using a different calendar app or service, refer to that provider’s documentation to learn:

  • How often iCal feeds refresh

  • Whether a manual refresh option is available

Refresh behavior varies widely by provider.

Booking platforms and iCal feeds

If you use iCals to connect booking platforms with Hospitable, update timing is controlled by the booking platform receiving the feed.

Booking platforms may introduce delays when importing iCal data. This is expected behavior and cannot be accelerated from Hospitable.
