Editing Scheduled Message

What happens when I edit the contents of a scheduled message?

Editing messages is different when it comes to editing the messaging rule itself, and the actual message that has already been scheduled to be sent to a guest.

Editing scheduled messages

This refers to editing a message that has already been scheduled for a guest, either from:

  • Hospitable > Inbox

  • Select the conversation thread

  • See “Activity” on the left hand side in the thread

or from

  • Hospitable > Guest Experience

  • See the “Pending messages” tab

You can edit the content and send time of these scheduled messages.

Any changes you make to a message which has been scheduled for a guest only apply to that particular message, and will not edit the messaging rule!

Note:

Manually editing the contents or sending time of a scheduled message will detach the message from the messaging rule and reservation details! Any subsequent changes made to the messaging rule or reservation (check-in or -out times/dates, for example) will not be applied to the already-edited scheduled message.

This is done so as not to automatically override any manual changes made to messages to specific guests when you edit the messaging rule.

If details on the reservation or messaging rule change after you have already manually edited a scheduled message, then you will need to manually edit it again and update it.

Replies to events

Automatic messages that are generated by events such as new inquiry, new reservation and new cancellation will not be updated when you make any changes to the messaging rule, even if the message has not been sent yet (this means its Timing was set to either prepare for sending manually, or delay by an amount of time).

This also means that if an event messaging rule Timing was originally set to prepare/delay and you change it to send immediately, previously generated messages will not be sent immediately.
