This article answers the most frequently asked questions about Dynamic Minimum Night Stays, helping you understand how the feature works and troubleshoot common issues.
How do I enable Dynamic Minimum Night Stays?
Dynamic Minimum Night Stays is a feature within Dynamic Pricing. To access it, follow the steps here.
Note: This feature is available for all users on Host, Professional, and Mogul plans.
What happens to my existing manual minimum stay edits?
When you first enable Dynamic Minimum Night Stays, all previous manual edits will be replaced by the dynamic settings as shown in the preview. However, any manual edits you make after enabling the feature will be respected and will override the dynamic settings for those specific dates.
What do Conservative, Recommended, and Aggressive strategies actually mean?
These strategies control how your minimum stay requirements adjust as dates approach:
Conservative Strategy - Prioritizes occupancy by relaxing sooner:
When a date is 0-21 days away: Shortest Stay Length
When a date is 22-35 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 1 night
When a date is 36-56 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 2 nights
When a date is 57-90 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 3 nights
When a date is 91+ days away: Ideal Stay Length
Recommended Strategy - Balances occupancy and longer stays (Hospitable default):
When a date is 0-14 days away: Shortest Stay Length
When a date is 15-28 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 1 night
When a date is 29-42 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 2 nights
When a date is 43-75 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 3 nights
When a date is 76+ days away: Ideal Stay Length
Aggressive Strategy - Prioritizes longer stays by relaxing later:
When a date is 0-7 days away: Shortest Stay Length
When a date is 8-21 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 1 night
When a date is 22-35 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 2 nights
When a date is 36-60 days away: Shortest Stay Length + 3 nights
When a date is 61+ days away: Ideal Stay Length
What do the attributions mean in the Dynamic Min Stay preview?
When you hover over a night in the preview, you may see:
Booking Window: The reduction from your Ideal Stay Length because the date is approaching and remains unbooked
Gap Night: The reduction from your Ideal Stay Length to ensure the gap between two unavailable nights is bookable (provided it's greater than the Shortest Stay Length)
Restrictions: If your property is based in a location with minimum stay restrictions (such as New York City), those restrictions will take precedence
Does Dynamic Min Stay resolve orphan and gap nights?
Yes, but only if the gap between two unavailable nights is not smaller than your Shortest Stay Length setting. Hospitable will never decrease your stay length less than your minimum, which means that some gaps may not be able to be resolved.
For example, if your minimum night stay's minimum is 3 nights and there are only 2 nights between bookings, you'll need to change your settings or manually update the minimum stay setting to allow a reservation during the gap.
Do minimum night stays in gap night periods reduce as the booking period shortens?
Yes, minimum stay values for gap nights will reduce according to your chosen strategy until reaching your Shortest Stay Length.
What do purple moons mean on my calendar?
Purple moons indicate nights that are unbookable due to your minimum stay settings. This visual indicator helps you quickly identify which dates may have booking restrictions.
Where are my regular minimum night stay controls under Availability?
If you have Dynamic Minimum Night Stays enabled, the Minimum Night Stay controls are disabled to prevent conflicts. However, you can still make manual edits on the calendar directly on specific dates.
Can I revert a manual edit back to Dynamic Min Stay?
Yes, you can make and revert manual edits while Dynamic Minimum Stays are enabled. To remove a manual change and go back to the Dynamic setting:
Click on the affected date
When the source shows "manual edit," click "Show why"

Do restrictions and rulesets override Dynamic Min Stay?

You can also override Dynamic Minimum Stays with the following:
Calendar rulesets
