Written by Dawn Ginie Santoyo

Starting January 1, 2025, short-term rental properties in Western Australia must be registered with the state government, and booking activity must be reported regularly.

This article explains what is required and how it applies to Direct bookings.

Registration Requirements

All short-term rental properties in Western Australia must:

  • Be registered with the state government

  • Maintain an active registration to operate

Reporting Requirements

Hosts must report booking activity:

  • Monthly reporting is required

  • Reports must be submitted by the 5th of each month

  • Reports must include all bookings, including Direct bookings

Current Hospitable Support

Hospitable is working on an integration to support reporting.

Planned functionality includes:

  • Automatic reporting of Direct bookings

  • Reduced manual data entry

  • Improved compliance support

This integration is not yet available. Hosts must currently report bookings manually.

What You Need to Do

Until automation is available:

Important Things to Know

  • Registration is required to operate legally

  • Reporting applies to all bookings, including Direct

  • Monthly deadlines must be followed

  • Automation is in development but not yet available
