Messaging rules are the messages that get sent to your guests with our automation. This is how you create an automated message.

You can create messaging rules under Guest experience > Messaging rules.

Messaging rules must be set up to generate automatic event messages and scheduled messages for your guests.

  • Event message rules: reply to an event (such as a "New reservation" event)

  • Scheduled message rules: schedule a message in advance (such as a "Before check-in" message)

To create a messaging rule:

  1. Click on Messaging rules in the left sidebar.

  2. Click on +Add new at the top-right corner of the page.

  3. Select the type of messaging rule.

  4. Write your message inside the editor box. You can use any of the short codes listed here.

  5. Set the Timing to the relevant option of your choice. See more here.

  6. Configure the rest of the rule options. See more here.

  7. Scope the message to the relevant platform, host, and properties. See more here.

Languages

If needed, click on Add another language. A default template will be translated from your base template (usually English). You can edit this translation and personalise as you like.

You can read more about language detection, and what template will be used when, here.

Short codes and custom codes

To include dynamic information in your template pertaining to the guest, listing and reservation, you can use short codes and custom codes.
