Property Images

If you have an Airbnb listing connected to Hospitable, Hospitable will pull your property images from Airbnb.

These are the images that are used to populate your Direct booking website with Hospitable for the properties listed on your direct site.

Can I edit or manage my Direct site photos on Hospitable?

At the moment, hosts are not able to edit the images that Hospitable pulls in from Airbnb.

This means hosts cannot:

  • Edit the order of how they are presented on the Direct site.

  • Remove photos from the property.

  • Add photos to the property.

This was previously available on Hospitable but has temporarily been disabled due to some ongoing work in the background.

This is expected to be available again in the very near future.

Property image requirements for Google Vacation Rentals

Direct doesn't have any specific image requirements for your property images, but Google Vacation Rentals (GVR) does have very specific requirements, which are a good guide whether you intend to use GVR or not.

  • A direct booking site, either:

  • Entire properties only; no private rooms, no hotels, no grouped properties

  • A Direct payout method

  • A full address

  • A summary of the property

  • At least one amenity

  • Minimum 8 high-resolution photos (recommended 20+)

    • Must include at least one photo of living room, common area, and bathroom

    • Recommended resolution: 1920 x 1080 px

    • Maximum height and width: 4000 px

    • Maximum size: 10 MB

    • File format: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP

    • Orientation: Landscape

    • No watermark or branding should be in the images

    • The image order is auto-generated and cannot be changed

Managing your Hero Banner Images and Video

You can still manage and control your Hero images and videos for your Direct website, despite property photos currently not being manageable!

Hero images, also called banner images, stretch to the full width of the screen, with a max-height of about 550px. So the wider the photo/video is, the better. A single photo will be shown as a static image, while several photos will be shown as a slideshow. If you upload a video, we will no longer display any hero images.

Hero image size limits

Rather than imposing limits on the size of images you can upload to your direct booking website, we run your images through an image size optimizer. This is to avoid slow load times due to large file sizes. This can result in some quality loss of larger images, but ultimately serves to make your site more user-friendly.

It is recommended to have banner images at a minimum 2560px x 550px, taller images will be cropped. Ensure that your images align with these recommendations to prevent cropping and maintain aesthetic quality.

Adding a Video to your Hero Banner

Only one video can be added with a maximum size of 30MB. An MP4 and other popular formats are supported.

How to upload hero images/video

To add a hero background image or video:

  1. Select Direct in the main menu

  2. On the Overview > Sites page, select your website

  3. Click on Overview in the sub-menu

  4. Click Add Images + or Add video + under Hero background section.

  5. Select and add the image or video you want.

How to delete hero images/video

To delete hero images:

  1. Select Direct in the main menu

  2. On the Overview > Sites page, select your website

  3. Click on Overview in the sub-menu

  4. Scroll down to where you see the images and/or video added to your hero banner and click the "x" in the corner of the file.

How images are edited and optimized

Images can be cropped in our editor when you upload them.

We also optimize image file sizes, so you won't experience slow load times with large images.

🚨 Note: Sites with a single property may or may not include a hero image. Check out our Direct Single Property Sites article to learn more.
