How do I connect my Vrbo account?

Step 1: Set up 2FA (two-factor-authentication) on Vrbo

On Vrbo, verify you have 2FA (two-factor authentication) enabled.

2FA is a verification process where Vrbo sends you a code in an SMS or via a phone call. You need to input this code into Hospitable when you connect your Vrbo account.

You can set it up and/or confirm it’s enabled here:

  1. Log in to your Vrbo account.

  2. Select My Account.

  3. Select Account Settings.

  4. Under Security, locate Two-factor authentication.

  5. Select Edit.

  6. Enter a phone number, or edit an existing one by adding it as an additional number.

  7. Select whether you’d like to receive your access code via text message or automated phone call on your verified device.

Step 2: Connect your Vrbo account to Hospitable

Connect your Vrbo account to Hospitable.

  1. On Hospitable, go to Connected Accounts

  2. Click on Connect with Vrbo

  3. Enter your Vrbo account credentials

  4. Click Connect

  5. On the 2-factor authentication page, enter your phone number

  6. Enter the verification code

  7. Click Continue

Once the account has been verified, you'll see all of the listings that have been automatically imported into Hospitable. You will also see your Vrbo account listed under Connected Accounts.

If you're having issues connecting, you can try the suggestions provided here.

Step 3: Merge your properties

If your properties are listed on multiple platforms, you’ll want to merge your listings.

Step 4 (Optional): Connect more Vrbo accounts!

Repeat Steps 1 - 3 to connect additional Vrbo accounts. You can connect as many different Vrbo accounts as you'd like.

Important things to note about the Vrbo connection

It takes time to fully sync your Vrbo account and listing details to Hospitable

It may take some time (up to 2 hours) for Hospitable to fully sync with your new Vrbo listing's calendar, receive all reservation information from Vrbo and block those on other booking platforms.

What happens if Vrbo is the lead listing on a property?

When the Vrbo listing is the lead listing on your property, Hospitable checks the Vrbo calendar on a rolling 4.5-hourly basis to check for changes made on your Vrbo calendar, if Hospitable detects availability, pricing, or minimum stay lengths that are different to the values on the Hospitable calendar, we will pull in the values from the Vrbo calendar and push those to the other listings on the property if the relevant sub-sync setting is enabled.

You can read more about this here.

New Vrbo property name not populating correctly

One thing which can get delayed when pulling in listings and details from your newly connected Vrbo account is the Vrbo listing's name. Hospitable uses this listing name to create the property name for the property that houses the listing on Hospitable.

If Hospitable doesn't receive the listing name from Vrbo right away, a placeholder name for the property is created. This name is simply a punctuation (".").

You can learn how to change the property name here.

Unlisted/Hidden/Paused Vrbo listings

When your listing on Vrbo is unlisted/hidden/paused on Vrbo, we cannot communicate calendar information to Vrbo. Vrbo does not accept calendar updates from us in those states.

You will need to list your listing on Vrbo in order for Hospitable to be able to push calendar information to your Vrbo calendar.

After you list your listing on Vrbo, it may take several hours for Vrbo to update their public API with that information and for Hospitable to learn about the new listing status. During that time, all calendar pushes from Hospitable to Vrbo will continue to fail.

Using a different property management software (PMS) with Vrbo

While you can have a PMS connected to Vrbo alongside Hospitable, we will be unable to update your calendar. If you’d like to manage your calendar from Hospitable, ensure any tools you have previously used are completely disconnected!

You can read more about this limitation here.
