When a guest books your property, you can automatically send them a message using the New reservation event messaging rule. This message is typically used to confirm the booking, thank the guest, and share important stay details.
For users on the Essentials plan, the New Reservation message cannot be disabled.
What is the New reservation messaging rule
The New reservation rule is an event-based message that is triggered when a booking is confirmed on a connected channel.
You can use this rule to:
Thank guests for their booking
Share the guest portal link
Provide key stay information such as house rules or next steps
Messaging template
You can start with a pre-made template for this rule and customize it as needed. See Messaging rule templates.
How the trigger works
In order for the New reservation message to be sent, Hospitable must receive the booking event at the time it happens.
This message will only send if the reservation event is received in real time from the booking channel.
For example:
If you connect a channel after a booking is made, the message will not send because the event was missed
If the channel is already connected before the booking is made, the message will be sent as expected
Manual message behavior
If you delay the New reservation message and manually reply to the guest before it sends, the automated message will be canceled.
This prevents duplicate or conflicting messages and helps keep communication natural.
Essentials plan requirements
On the Essentials subscription plan, the New reservation message must be enabled and include a guest portal shortcode. This ensures your guests always have the information they need. This message cannot be disabled for Essentials users.
The New reservation message is mandatory on the Essentials plan and cannot be disabled. Upgrade to a paid plan to gain more messaging flexibility.
On the Essentials plan, the New Reservation must include:
The guest portal shortcode
Specific text surrounding the short code (this text cannot be edited/deleted)
This ensures that every guest receives access to their reservation details and important stay information.
