What You Can Do With a Metrics Dashboard

Dashboards allow you to organize multiple insights (widgets) into a single view.
Widgets are individual charts, tables, or single-value metrics that visualize your data.

With Metrics, you can:

  • Build fully custom dashboards

  • Add pre-built widgets from a searchable library

  • Apply filters at the dashboard or widget level

  • Save configurations for recurring analysis

Accessing Metrics Dashboards

Metrics have replaced our old Legacy Metrics.

  • This page lists all dashboards you’ve created.

  • If you haven’t created any dashboards yet, this page will appear empty with an option to add your first one.

Creating a New Dashboard

  1. Click + Add Dashboard.

  2. A new dashboard will be generated automatically.

  3. It will have a default name (e.g., Dashboard 1).

  4. Click the title to rename it.

Using Dashboard Filters

Dashboard-level filters help you focus on a specific slice of your data.
These include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Date range

  • Property groupings

  • Time breakdowns

  • Reservation details

  • Platform & stay type filters

These filters apply to all widgets unless a widget has its own filter override.

After adjusting your filters, you can Save them so they are automatically applied the next time you open the dashboard.

Adding Widgets to a Dashboard

To add widgets:

  1. Click + Add Widget

  2. A widget library window will open

  3. You can search or filter widgets by:

    • Type: bar chart, pie chart, single value

    • Category: messaging, occupancy, reservation financials, reservations, reviews, upsells, owner statements

  4. Select one or multiple widgets

  5. Click Add Widget to finalize

Once added, widgets appear immediately on your dashboard and will use the dashboard’s filters unless you customize them individually.

Customizing Widgets

Each widget can be customized to help you refine your analysis:

  • Use widget-level filters (these override dashboard-level filters)

  • Hover over the info icon next to a widget name to read a detailed description

  • Expand table and bar graphs to full screen

  • Remove widgets by clicking on the three dots (...) in the upper right corner and selecting "Delete"

Reordering Widgets on a Dashboard

You can change the order of widgets on a dashboard using the Reorder widgets option.

  1. Click the three-dot menu to the right of the Save button.

  2. Select Reorder widgets.

  3. The dashboard will enter edit mode:

    • Widgets will display a dashed outline.

    • Arrow buttons will appear beneath each widget.

  4. Use the arrows to move widgets into your desired order.

  5. When you’re satisfied, click Save order to apply the changes.

⚠️ Important: Reordering widgets affects all users who have access to the dashboard. Just like adding a new widget, the updated order will be visible to everyone.

FAQs and Troubleshooting

1. Booking.com payout totals don’t match

If you are comparing a Metrics dashboard total to your Booking.com payout and the numbers do not match, one common reason is the VAT on Booking.com payouts.

Booking.com may include a VAT amount in payout reporting that represents VAT charged on Booking.com’s commission and payment charges by the country of operation, not a tax collected from the guest.

Important: Hospitable does not receive this Booking.com VAT-on-payouts amount via the Booking.com API, so it will not appear in Metrics totals or exports.

To reconcile the difference:

  1. Review Booking.com’s payout reporting for commission, payment charges, and VAT.

  2. Use Booking.com’s reporting for any VAT-on-payouts amounts needed for accounting.

  3. On Booking.com, you can set up the taxes per property. You can follow this guide on Booking.com to set everything up.

3. Reconciling Revenue and Tax Reporting Discrepancies Between Hospitable and Airbnb

Discrepancies between Hospitable and Airbnb reports can arise due to differences in reporting logic and date ranges. This guide explains how to align reports, understand reporting bases, and choose the right report for your needs.

Overview of Reporting Bases

Hospitable and Airbnb use different bases for determining which reservations are included in a report:

  • Hospitable Reporting Bases:

    • Check-in Date: Includes reservations whose check-in occurs within the selected date range. Multi-night stays are fully counted once the check-in date is inside the window.

    • Check-out Date: Includes reservations whose check-out occurs within the selected date range.

    • Booked Date: Includes reservations based on when they were booked.

  • Airbnb Reporting Basis:

    • Payout Date: Includes reservations based on when Airbnb issued the payout. This means that if a payout is split across months, only the portion paid within the selected date range will appear in the report.

Steps to Reconcile Reports

To reconcile differences between Hospitable and Airbnb reports, follow these steps:

  1. Export Both Reports:

    • Ensure that reservation codes are visible in both reports for easy comparison.

  2. Compare Included Reservations:

    • Identify which reservations are included in each report. Differences arise because Airbnb groups by payout date, while Hospitable allows grouping by check-in, check-out, or booked date.

  3. Align Date Ranges:

    • Adjust the start and end dates in Hospitable to match Airbnb’s payout window. For example, if Airbnb includes a reservation’s payout from December in its year-to-date total, set Hospitable’s start date to include that reservation’s check-in date.

  4. Understand Remaining Differences:

    • Note that Airbnb’s payout-based totals may exclude amounts paid outside the selected window, even if the reservation spans into the new year. This can leave a difference equal to payouts that fell outside the window.
