How to Complete Pre-Check-In Tasks for Direct Bookings

Learn how to complete required steps like verification, agreements, and deposits before your stay

After your booking is confirmed, you may be required to complete additional steps before check-in. These tasks help hosts verify your booking details and prepare for your stay.

All required steps are completed in the Guest Portal.


What Are Pre-Check-In Tasks

Pre-check-in tasks are actions your host may require before your stay.

These tasks appear in your Guest Portal and may include:

  • Verifying your identity

  • Signing a rental agreement

  • Providing security deposit details

Not all bookings require these steps. If they do, they will be clearly shown in your Guest Portal.

You can only access and complete these tasks after your booking is confirmed.


Where to Complete These Tasks

You can complete all required steps in the Guest Portal.

To access it:

  1. Open your booking confirmation email

  2. Click Manage my stay

You can also use a link shared by your host.

Types of Pre-Check-In Tasks

Guest Verification

You may be asked to verify your identity.

This may include:

  • Uploading a government-issued ID

  • Taking a selfie

  • Providing the purpose of your stay

Once completed:

  • Your verification is reviewed

  • Your host may proceed with your booking or check-in process

Some bookings cannot proceed until verification is completed.


Rental Agreement

Your host may require you to review and sign a rental agreement.

This typically includes:

  • House rules

  • Stay terms and conditions

  • Guest responsibilities

To complete this step:

  • Review the document in the Guest Portal

  • Add your signature

Once signed, the agreement is saved with your booking.


Security Deposit

Some bookings require a security deposit.

To complete this step:

  • Enter your card details in the Guest Portal

  • Confirm the deposit

The deposit is usually held temporarily and released after your stay, if no issues are reported.

Security deposits are typically authorization holds, not charges.


What Happens If You Don’t Complete Tasks

If required tasks are not completed:

  • Your host may follow up with you

  • You may not receive check-in details

  • Your stay may be delayed or affected

It’s important to complete all required steps before your check-in date.


When to Complete These Tasks

You should complete all required tasks as soon as possible after receiving your booking confirmation.

Some tasks may have deadlines before check-in.


Why You Might Not See Any Tasks

You may not see any tasks if:

  • Your host does not require them

  • You have already completed them

  • Your booking has not been confirmed yet
