Troubleshooting Widget Issues

Resolve common problems when your booking widget is not displaying or working correctly

If your booking widget is not working as expected, it is usually related to how the widget is embedded, platform limitations, or property setup.

This article covers the most common issues and how to fix them.


Widget Not Displaying

If your widget does not appear on your page:

  • Make sure the embed code is fully copied and pasted

  • Confirm the widget is added inside an HTML/embed block

  • Check that your website platform supports embedded scripts

Some website builders restrict embedded scripts, which may prevent widgets from loading.


Widget Loads but Does Not Work

If the widget appears but guests cannot interact with it:

  • Check for platform-specific requirements (e.g., Wix requires additional setup)

  • Ensure there are no script conflicts on your page

  • Try loading the page in an incognito window

Booking Button or Redirect Not Working

If guests cannot proceed with booking:

  • Confirm any required redirect or script setup is completed (for platforms like Wix)

  • Check that pop-ups or redirects are not blocked by the browser

  • Verify the widget is not inside a restricted container

Some platforms (like Wix) require additional code to handle booking redirects.


Incorrect or Missing Availability

If the widget shows incorrect availability or pricing:

  • Make sure the property has availability and pricing set

  • Confirm your calendar is up to date

  • Check for sync delays with connected platforms

Property Not Bookable

If guests cannot complete a booking:

  • Ensure the property is eligible for Direct bookings

  • Confirm payment setup is complete

  • Check that booking settings allow requests or instant booking

Properties that do not meet eligibility requirements will not be bookable through widgets.


Widget Displays Wrong Property

If the wrong property appears:

  • Verify you copied the correct widget code

  • Ensure each page uses the correct widget for that property

Each property has a unique widget code and must be placed on the correct page.


Widget Not Updating

If changes are not reflected:

  • Clear your browser cache

  • Check your site in an incognito window

  • Confirm updates were saved in Hospitable

Widgets automatically sync, but cached content may delay updates.


Platform Limitations

Some issues are caused by the website platform itself.

Common limitations:

  • Restricted script execution

  • iframe limitations

  • Delayed loading behavior

Widget functionality may vary depending on your website platform.


When to Contact Support

If the issue persists after troubleshooting:

  • Provide your website URL

  • Share the page where the widget is embedded

  • Include screenshots of the issue
