Teammate payouts can fail for several reasons, including payout setup issues, insufficient funds, or payout provider processing errors.
This article explains common payout failure reasons, how payout statuses work, and what actions hosts can take to successfully process teammate payments.
How Teammate Payout Processing Works
When a payable job is completed and approved:
Hospitable creates a payout run
Funds are collected from the host payment method
The payout is processed
The teammate receives the payout
During this process, payouts move through several statuses.

Understanding Payout Statuses
Payout runs may display different statuses while processing.
Pending
The payout run has been created and tasks are still being added.
No funds have been collected yet.
Pending Funding
Hospitable has started collecting funds from the host payment method to fund the payout run.
This status usually appears temporarily during processing.
Funded
Funds were successfully collected and the payout run is ready for payout processing.
The payout is locked in for the included tasks.
Charged
The teammate payout has been successfully processed or is currently being transferred.
Banks and payout providers may require additional time before the funds appear in the teammate account.
Bank processing times vary by payout provider and financial institution.
Funding Failed
A Funding failed status means Hospitable could not successfully pull funds from the host’s payment method.
This may happen when:
The payment method is declined
The card has expired
The bank blocks the transaction
Insufficient funds are available
To resolve this:
Funding failures prevent payouts from being sent to teammates until the payment method issue is resolved.
Charge Failed
A Charge failed status means the payout to the teammate could not be completed.
This may happen when:
The teammate payout method is invalid
The payout account is restricted
Identity verification is incomplete
The payout provider rejects the transfer
Insufficient funds in the funding source
To resolve this:
Ask the teammate to review their payout setup
Confirm identity verification is complete
Canceled
The payout run was canceled before payout completion.
Canceled payouts are not processed unless a new payout run is created.
Pending for an Extended Period
A payout may remain in a Pending or Pending funding status while processing is still underway.
This can happen because of:
Bank processing delays
Payout provider review
Verification checks
Temporary processing interruptions
Bank processing times vary by provider and financial institution.
If a payout remains pending longer than expected, contact Hospitable Support.
Check Per-Task Payout Results in a Payout Run
A payout run's overall status reflects the run as a whole, but the individual tasks inside a payout run may have different outcomes. For example, a payout run can show Charge failed even when most of its tasks were sent to the teammate successfully — the run-level status is driven by the tasks that did not complete.
To see what actually happened for each task:
Go to Operations → Task Management → Payments
Open the Details of the payout run
Review the Sent to teammate column in the task table
For each task, this column shows whether the payout for that specific task reached the teammate. This helps you confirm:
Which tasks were paid successfully
Which tasks still need to be retried
Which teammates have already received their funds
A payout run with a Charge failed status does not always mean every task failed. Always check the per-task Sent to teammate column before repaying a teammate manually — paying off-platform on top of a successful payout cannot be reversed.
Common Reasons Teammate Payouts Fail
Payout failures are commonly caused by:
Incomplete teammate payout setup
Missing identity verification
Invalid or inactive payout methods
Insufficient funds in the funding source
Expired or declined cards
Bank transfer failures
Temporary payout provider issues
Review Teammate Payout Setup
Teammates must complete payout onboarding before payments can be processed successfully.
This includes:
Adding a payout method
Completing identity verification if required
Submitting any required payout provider information
Incomplete payout setup may prevent payouts from processing.
Review Host Funding Methods
Hosts must maintain a valid payment method for teammate payouts.
Review the funding method if:
Payouts repeatedly fail
Funding failures appear
Cards have expired or changed
Bank restrictions are suspected
To review payment methods:
Go to Operations → Task Management
Open the Payments section
Review the connected funding source
Update payment details if necessary

Retry Failed Payouts
When a payout run shows Charge failed or contains tasks that were not sent to the teammate:
Go to Operations → Task Management
Open the affected payout run
Use the Sent to teammate column to identify which tasks still need to be paid — successful tasks do not need to be retried
Click Retry to reprocess only the failed tasks
Some payout failures retry automatically after payment information is updated.
When you retry:
We'll top up your marketplace balance for the failed task payments that still need funding (tasks already funded will not be topped up again).
Funds typically become available within 5 business days.
Once the funds are available, we'll charge your account and send the payout to your teammate for any tasks that have not been paid out.
Only tasks that were not sent to the teammate are reprocessed when you retry a payout run. Tasks already marked as sent are not paid twice.
Prevent Future Payout Failures
To reduce payout interruptions:
Keep payment methods updated
Ensure teammates complete payout onboarding early
Monitor payout statuses regularly
Maintain sufficient available funds
Review failed payouts promptly
When to Contact Support
Contact Hospitable Support if:
Payouts remain pending for an extended period
Failures continue after updating payment methods
The payout provider rejects valid payout information
You cannot retry or process the payout
When contacting support, include:
The teammate name
The payout amount
The payout status
Screenshots of the error if available
Key Things to Know
Failed payouts are usually caused by funding or payout setup issues
Funding failed and Charge failed statuses indicate different problems
Teammates must complete payout onboarding before receiving payments
Hosts must maintain valid payment methods with sufficient funds
Some payout failures can be retried after the issue is resolved
A payout run's overall status does not always reflect every task — check the Sent to teammate column to see per-task results
Retrying a failed payout run only reprocesses tasks that were not yet sent to the teammate
