Custom Codes Without a Condition / Scoping Custom Codes

Do I always need to set a condition for my custom codes? How do I always include a custom code in a message and make it property-specific?

Custom codes do not have to have a condition set when they are created.

When there is no condition, they are always included in the message sent to your guest, provided the reservation matches the property, platform, and host that the custom code is scoped to.

Property-specific messages

Custom codes can also be used to create messaging rule templates that will automatically adjust the message to the property or listing that the guest booked.

For example:

  • You may have check-in instructions that are identical for all listings, except for a paragraph about the lock-box that is different from listing to listing.

  • Information about parking might differ from property to property.

  • Any other information that is property or listing-specific but cannot be communicated with shortcodes.

Instead of creating a different check-in instructions messaging rule for every property or listing, you could create a specific custom code for each of them to hold these different paragraphs and include these custom codes in your rule. In this case, the custom code would not be tied to a condition; it will always apply, but only be sent if the scoping matches the platform, host, and property that the guest booked.

Your can read more about this here.

How to scope a custom code?

To set a scope for your custom code, you go to:

  • Either select an existing custom code you with to scope, or click on "+Add new" to create a new one

  • Type in your paragraph into the text box

  • Scroll down to the bottom, where you see the three scoping fields:
