Can I offer early check-in or late check-out to my guests for an extra fee?

You can now offer paid upsells offer an early check-in and late check-out to your guests via Guest Experience > Upsells.

These are available by default on your account but can be disabled, if you choose not to use them.

You have the option to offer the early check-in or late check-out from 1-4 hours earlier or later than the defined check-in/check-out time of your listing. You can set a different price, depending on the timing option.

Currency

When creating an early check-in/late check-out upsell, you need to select the currency you would like to offer this upsell in.

This currency must match the currency of all of the properties scoped to this upsell and the currency of the payout method you have selected for this upsell.

Settings

You have the flexibility to offer your early check-in and late check-out to guests, under the conditions that work best for you. These settings are found within the template of your early check-in/late check-out upsells.

Can be purchased while booking: Enable this setting, if you would like to offer your upsell option during the initial booking flow, as well as on the Guest Portal:

Block Day before or after: Enable this setting if you would like to automatically block the day before (for early check-in) or the day after (for late check-out) when your upsell is purchased:

Timing

Decide how close to the check-in or check-out time, you want the guest to be able to purchase your upsell.

How can a guest purchase an early check-in or a late check-out?

There are three main ways a guest can purchase this upsell:

  • In the booking flow. If you enable the "Can be purchased while booking" option above, they can be purchased during the Direct booking flow.

  • Via the Guest Portal. Early check-in and late check-out are only available in the Guest Portal within 14 days of check-in and if the day of check-in and check-out are open in the calendar.

  • By adding the Smart Upsell shortcode in a messaging rule.

What happens after an early check-in or late check-out is purchased?

Early check-in and late check-out upsells are unique in that they are deeply integrated with Hospitable messaging and tasks systems.

Whenever payment is confirmed for an early check-in or late check-out upsell:

  • the check-in/check-out time for the booking is automatically adjusted across all areas of Hospitable.

  • Scheduled messages based on check-in time are automatically rescheduled,

    Team notifications and tasks based on check-in/check-out time are automatically rescheduled,

  • Smart lock codes are provisioned taking into account the updated timings.
