Managing Languages on Your Site

Add and manage languages so guests can view and book in their preferred language

Written by Dawn Ginie Santoyo

You can enable multiple languages on your direct booking site to allow guests to browse, book, and manage their stay in their preferred language.

This article explains how to add languages, how translations work, and what guests will experience.

Supported Languages

Hospitable currently supports:

  • English (default)

  • Spanish

  • French

  • German

More languages may be added over time.

How to Add a Language

To enable additional languages:

  1. Go to Settings → Languages

  2. Select the language you want to add

  3. Wait for translations to complete

  4. Set the language to Active

Translations may take a few minutes to process.

How Translations Work

When you add a language, Hospitable automatically translates your content.

This includes:

  • Property details (descriptions, amenities, house rules)

  • Site content (homepage text, footer, sections)

  • Booking flow and guest portal

Translations are AI-generated and cannot be manually edited.

Set Your Default Language

Your default (main) language is used when:

  • A guest’s preferred language cannot be detected

  • The guest’s language is not enabled

You can update your default language in:

  • Settings → Languages

How Guests Experience Languages

When a guest visits your site:

  • Their browser language is detected automatically

  • If that language is enabled, the site is shown in that language

  • If not, the default language is used

Guests cannot manually switch languages on the site.

How Language Affects Bookings and Communication

The language used during booking becomes the guest’s preferred language.

This affects:

  • Guest communication

  • Messaging rules (if configured per language)

  • Rental agreements (if available in that language)

Important Limitations

Language behavior is automatic and has limited customization.

  • Translations cannot be manually edited

  • Guests cannot choose a language manually

  • Only supported languages can be enabled

  • Translations may not always be perfect

Important Things to Know

  • Languages are managed in Settings → Languages, not in the site editor

  • Translations apply to both site content and property details

  • Guest language is based on browser settings

  • The selected booking language is saved for communication

  • Additional language controls may be added in the future
