I can't find or use a short code that I need in the messaging rule that I'm working on. How come?

When you're working on a messaging rule, and you go to put in a Short Code for something that you need, you start by typing the "%" symbol.

Sometimes, when searching for a shortcode with the % symbol, not all shortcodes will appear in the list on all types of messaging rules.

There are some restrictions which prevent our system from using certain shortcodes for all messaging rules.

These restrictions include platform restrictions, timing restrictions, etc. If there is some other information you would like to include, you can also always create a Custom Code.

Or, if you feel like a certain type of shortcode is missing, you can leave a feature request for that here: https://feedback.hospitable.com/

Short Code restrictions

  • Using the shortcode to include your detailed address (%listing_full_address%) is not possible until a reservation has been accepted.

  • The shortcode to include directions to the listing (%listing_directions%) is only available for Airbnb guests and only after a reservation has been accepted.

  • Task-related shortcodes are also available only in task-related notifications (task assigned, task updated, task cancelled).

To see a full list of what shortcodes we have available, their definitions, and their individual restrictions, go to the article linked here.
