How Discounts Are Applied to Direct Bookings
You can offer guests discounts to increase bookings, automatically through your pricing or through promo codes. Here’s how discounts work, how they’re applied when multiple types are available, and what to expect when using rule sets.
Types of Discounts in Direct
There are two main ways for guests to receive discounts on Direct bookings:
1. Discounts
Guests may automatically receive a discount based on the pricing settings configured in your rule sets. These include:
Length of Stay Discounts: Weekly, monthly, or custom duration discounts (set via a rule set).
Early Bird Discounts: Applied when a guest books a set number of days in advance.
Last Minute Discounts: Applied when a guest books shortly before check-in.
Note: If you are using rule sets, we will always apply the rule set’s nightly rate before any automatic discounts are calculated.
2. Promo Codes
You can also offer guests manual discounts using promo codes. These are entered by the guest at checkout.

How Discounts Are Applied When Multiple Discounts Qualify
When a booking qualifies for multiple discounts, only one discount will apply.
If a guest qualifies for multiple discounts of the same category, we’ll apply only the most relevant one.
For example:
If you offer a weekly (7+ nights) and a monthly (30+ nights) discount, a 35-night stay will receive only the monthly discount.
If you offer a 2 month early bird discount and a 3 month early bird discount, a stay booked 4 months in advanced will receive only the 3 month discount.
If a booking qualifies for discounts across different categories (e.g. a length of stay and an early bird discount), we will prioritize discounts in this order:
Length of Stay
Early Bird
Last Minute
When you create a promo code, you choose whether it stacks with automatic discounts or replaces them:
Stacking allowed: The promo code discount will be added on top of the discount.
Stacking not allowed: Hospitable will compare both discounts and apply whichever is higher, the promo code or the discount.
