Before you start: Confirm you received a secondary user invitation

Hospitable sends several types of invitations, and each one gives a different kind of access. Before following the steps below, make sure you received a Secondary User invitation — it's the one with the email subject line:

"You've been invited to [Account owner name]'s team on Hospitable.com!"

If your invitation doesn't match that, you may have received one of these instead:

Where to go

Teammate invitation

You've been added to a host's operations team to receive task assignments (e.g., cleaning, maintenance).

Teammates access the Teammate Portal — a simplified view for managing tasks. Teammates do not get a login to the main Hospitable app.

Teammate users do not have passwords. Log in with your email.

Owner Portal invitation

A property manager has invited you to view financial reports and booking data for your property. This is a separate portal from the main Hospitable dashboard.

What is a Secondary User?

A Secondary User has their own login credentials for the Hospitable app at my.hospitable.com. Their account is linked to one or more primary Hospitable accounts, with permissions customized by the account owner.

As a Secondary User, you can (depending on the primary user's Hospitable plan and permissions granted to you):

  • View and respond to guest messages

  • Access the booking calendar and reservations

  • Manage property settings and listings

  • View Metrics and other data

Important things to know:

  • A Secondary User is not a Teammate. Teammates can receive task notifications and use the Teammate Portal — they cannot log into the main Hospitable app.

    • Exception: Teammates can also be invited as secondary users. This is a different invitation and must be sent from the Hospitable user.

  • Only the primary account owner can invite Secondary Users (via Settings → User Management → Invite User).

  • A Secondary User can be connected to multiple primary Hospitable accounts using the same email address. You can switch between accounts as a secondary user by clicking on your profile picture and selecting the primary user's name.

  • Some actions are reserved for the primary account owner only — for example, managing billing/subscription, muting/unmuting properties, and inviting other Secondary Users.

How to accept the invitation

  1. The primary user must first invite you to be a secondary user on their account by following these instructions.

  2. Find the invitation email from Hospitable with the subject "You've been invited to [Account owner name]'s team on Hospitable.com!"

  3. Click the Accept the invitation button in the email.

  4. On the next page, set up a password for your account.

  5. Click Create account.

  6. You're all set — you can now log in at my.hospitable.com as a secondary user.

💡 Tip: If you are, or were previously, a primary account owner on Hospitable and want to become a Secondary User on someone else's account, you'll need to use a different email address. You cannot be both a primary and secondary user on Hospitable with the same email address.
